Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities confirmed on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.

Healing from Light Wounds

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, representatives confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.

Remembering the Victims

Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two dear friends.”

This update on his health comes as the boxing community shared sympathy for the star in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
