Britain's Katie Boulter admits she feels she has to "pick between my physical health and my professional position" as the scramble continues for a position in next January's Australian Open primary competition.

While the standard WTA Tour competitive period is over, there are still standing points to be won in Latin American countries, regional locations, multiple sites and France.

The women's competitor lineup for the opening Grand Slam of the forthcoming season will be calculated from the international positions of 8 December, which could create a challenging situation for competitors close to the qualification line.

Health Challenges

Previous British top-ranked player Boulter experienced an hip muscle in her last tournament of the year in Asian venues last period, and is now considering whether to participate in the WTA 125 Challenger event in Angers, the continental destination, in the first week of December.

Boulter's recent injury, and the situation she would need to secure at least several wins in Angers to improve her position, means she may probably end up not participating.

Different Systems

In opposition, male athletes are not confronting the same situation, as for the first time the men's Australian Open competitor lineup will be created from present week's positions, which is the ATP's standard season-concluding standing calculation.

The adjustment is aimed at discouraging competitors from seeking standing points during what is basically the rest interval.

Training Transitions

This period has been a difficult one for Boulter.

She achieved merely 14 elite primary competition matches and currently separated with coach Biljana Veselinovic after a extended working relationship in which she captured several WTA victories.

"Biljana is an outstanding trainer, and an remarkably excellent human as well, which produces circumstances extremely hard," Boulter commented.

The quest for a new coach is well under way, looking for someone who has elite background as Boulter maintains the belief she can be a world-class competitor.

Future Goals

"Moving ahead with a replacement instructor, an important factor I'm completely sure on is that they are going to be an individual who has considerable expertise in how to make it to the highest echelon of this sport," she explained.

"I've been positioned as elevated as twenty-three and I know I can get back to that level. I don't think my standard has disappeared, I feel the steadiness needs to improve.

"My aim is not simply to be positioned 50, 40, 30, twenty - we've been there. The objective is to be among 20."
