Esteemed Star Pat Finn, Known For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Passes Away at 60 Years Old.

American performer Pat Finn, who appeared in beloved TV shows such as Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has succumbed at the age of 60.

The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California this Monday after undergoing cancer treatment since 2022, according to media reports.

"He considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his relatives said in a statement.

They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".

An Extensive Television Career

His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the lead character's sibling.

He was also seen in a regular part on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.

During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several hit series, such as:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

Finn was perhaps best known for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.

His work in movies include "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

Beyond the Screen

Beyond his television work, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was a member of a six-person improv troupe known as "Beer Shark Mice".

"Pat taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils during his career and it's nearly impossible to find anyone anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.

In a tribute, peer Richard Kind noted there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he posted online.

The actor is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
