Well beyond 14 days following the shocking loss of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the couple.

A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director

Posting on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt ready to express about his deep grief.

"Sufficient time has gone by that I can now put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started passing more hours together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."

The actor shared archival material from the movie, adding that he cannot recall "a single day without joy".

"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Things that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes wrote.

He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He finished with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."

Martin Scorsese Remembers a Colleague and Comrade

In a different essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.

"Immediately, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese said.

Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.

"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he grasped the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.

Judicial Actions: Autopsy Reports Restricted

This week, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to prevent the disclosure of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, at the request from the LAPD.

A legal directive put a security hold on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" associated with the active case.

The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a official listing citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".

Fallout and Commentary

In the wake of the deaths, public individuals offered varying comments.

Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making divisive statements that were met with immediate backlash by several individuals.

Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the those speaking out recently. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan characterized the remarks as "shocking" and suggested they revealed a concerning deficiency of sympathy.

Rogan concluded by suggesting that an adviser should have stepped in when the decision to weigh in on the passing was made.
