This prestigious juvenile colts race features leading French prospects against an important contender trained by the O’Brien stable. Unbeaten Rayif and Nighttime (Christopher Head) compete against Ballydoyle’s Puerto Rico for O’Brien. The favourite won a Group Three event during his previous start, whereas Christopher Head’s charge, with three wins from four, additionally a Group Three victor, having taken a Group Three at Longchamp on this same venue back in September. The O’Brien contender proved more active than both and got off the mark only on his last appearance, winning the Doncaster’s Group Two. He was not the favourite for an O’Brien-trained runner and one of the top choices underperformed, he stands as a reliable 9-2 chance among the bookmakers. A Bit Of Spirit, who took the Solario following a four-way finish, also earns his place in the lineup, as does from Charlie Appleby Appleby’s Time To Turn, winner of a Listed race at Ascot earlier this season.

Following a four-year run between 2018 and 2022 where the winner of this race failed to achieve further success, the French premier race for young fillies has picked up some momentum recently including Blue Rose Cen (2022) along with Opera Singer (2023) each recording Group One victories as three-year-olds , while Zarigana, who narrowly defeated by a 100-1 stable companion following being an odds-on favourite, took the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches this May. The unbeaten Green Spirit, perfect in four starts which included a Group Three win at this track most recently, fronts the local challenge this afternoon and also ranks first in the Timeform ratings. Yet the O’Brien-trained Diamond Necklace (unbeaten) remains undefeated – from two races – and is expected to give her strong competition. She won a black-type race on Ireland’s Champions Weekend in September and success for this offspring of St Mark’s Basilica could mark a big moment for the breed. Together, the favourites in the betting account for nearly 70% of the betting, though there are several other contenders that deserve some consideration. Ozone (unbeaten) remains perfect after two starts, though on lesser courses, most recently winning a black-type contest on the Lyon track. Additionally, the Burke-trained Aylin won the May Hill Stakes in Doncaster most recently and the yard could hardly be more in form.
