🔗 Share this article The network's Premier New Show of This Year Secures a Major Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons. Last October, the late-night programming block saw the return of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. But, later that same month, the network launched a fresh animated series with a distinctly unique tone. Haha, You Clowns emerged as heartwarming and calm, reminiscent of a cartoon version of a contemplative talk show. During a period often defined by cynicism, this show's earnestness resonated deeply and helped it become a surprise hit. A Major Commitment On December 18th, the network revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been greenlit for two more seasons. This provides showrunner Joe Cappa a massive runway to develop the story of the Campbell family. The series focuses on three polite teenage brothers whose central trait is their deep love for their single father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four central characters. "My deepest thanks go to the viewers of the show who welcomed the series and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "I’m incredibly thrilled that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for the foreseeable future." Executive Acclaim In the same announcement praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and strangely uncanny." He specifically highlighted the fans who discovered the show and supported its uniquely offbeat appeal. "All of you supported this new show, praised it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'" A Wholesome Alternative Earlier this fall, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a wholesome alternative" to more cynical adult animated fare. There’s something surprisingly comfy about observing this charming family navigate their simple existence. Previously, creator Joe Cappa expressed his desire to move the comedy genre beyond its current layer of irony. He linked this trend to a broader media landscape. “We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we keep returning to,” said Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we need to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.” Future Seasons With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa may well catalyze that very evolution. Or at the very least, the renewal ensures audiences more opportunities to enjoy the warm glow of the beloved Campbell clan. The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. The complete first season is ready to watch on HBO Max.
